Description

In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, between the green hills and the horizons that range towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, Tenuta Fertuna rises among the vineyards, designed by the man's hand with the utmost respect for the environment and for nature. The estate was purchased in 1997 and it counts 145 hectares, of which 50 are used for the cultivation of vines. The soil rich in Galestro (schist rock) and Alberese (calcareous substrate), the fertile and uncontaminated nature, the Mediterranean microclimate with a strong marine influence and a good day / night temperature range make the Maremma a terroir particularly devoted to the cultivation of vines . Tenuta Fertuna has created a special welcome for its guests in accordance with the quality of its products. In addition to the winery tour, you can take advantage of the splendid Villa and the beautiful garden that embraces it. Every wine-lover will be able to taste our wines combining with Tuscan cuisine, a good wine tasting experience in the wine shop for the knowledge of our labels, furthermore one can enjoy a moment of peace by sitting in the relaxation room or walking, with a good glass, in the garden Italian style.

Museum

Vetulonia, 6 km Vetulonia: ancient and powerful city of the Etruscan Dodecapoli, whose traces had been completely lost, today a small and picturesque village in Maremma with an extremely interesting archaeological area. Another town to visit is Roselle which was founded by the Etruscans, before the 7th century. to. C., on a hill that overlooked the eastern shore of Lacus Prilius. This marine lake extended for about 90 square kilometers on the Grosseto plain, but over the centuries it has undergone a process of landfill and has practically disappeared. Today there remains a very small portion that corresponds to the Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve. Roselle enjoyed a favorable geographical position that allowed to control the Ombrone river, it developed therefore very quickly, to the detriment of the other Etruscan center of Vetulonia, situated instead on the north-western shore of the same lake. Roselle therefore became a lucumonia, or a city of the Etruscan dodecapoli.

Spa

The SPA of Petriolo are located on the border between the territory of Civitella Paganico and Monticiano, not far from Tenuta Fertuna. They are located within the "Basso Merse" Nature River Reserve. The Petriolo SPA is immersed in a hilly landscape of astonishing beauty. Saturnia is 80 km distant (1hr and 20 minutes). It has been inhabited since ancient times. Its Spa complex grew up around the sulphur springs, waterfalls and streams which have been an attraction to those seeking panacea for more than 3000 years. The Etruscans who built the town above are thought to have used these turquoise waters in sacred rites.
