San Martino in Cantina 2011, 12 & 13 November 2011 in Friuli

07/10/2011 Guided tastings in wineries, wine and food pairings, lunches and dinners with winemakers!

Guided tastings in wineries, wine and food pairings, lunches and dinners with winemakers: these are the pillars of San Martino in Cantina, a not-to-be-missed event organised by Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia taking place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November.

The festival, which has now come to its 4th edition, takes place throughout the whole country and is awaited every year by wine lovers willing to taste the best regional wines, both the latest and the oldest vintages.
San Martino is the opportunity to make a fascinating journey into the world of wine, where wineries welcome wine tourists to share with them their best wines coupled with delicious food. Traditional food and the amazing landscapes of Friuli Venezia Giulia will be the main protagonists of the festival, a week end to chat with winemakers about the last harvest, about food an wine and about the rural culture handed down from one generation to the other.

On 12th and 13th November, more than 50 wineries will open their doors to guests from 10 am to 6 pm, some of them upon booking. Many wineries will organise lunches or dinners with the winemakers: a great opportunity to taste traditional food in wineries, farm restaurants or restaurant throughout the whole region while talking to winemakers about their wines, Friuli Venezia Giulia and its history.
San Martino in Cantina is a fantastic opportunity to visit Friuli Venezia Giulia as, thanks to Movimento Turismo del Vino FVG and FriulAlberghi, tailor-made tours will be provided on the occasion of the festival. The tours will enable tourists to plunge for a week end into Friuli Venezia Giulia to discover the regional wines, food, culture, history and landscapes.
What is more, the event will also involve the folk festivals organised in the Region to celebrate Saint Martin in order to make sure that wineries, towns and communities get together to celebrate Friuli Venezia Giulia.
