Spirito di Vino: awards and exhibition have been postponed

10/09/2014 The fortnightly marriage with Friuli Doc has been suspended

In 2014 the international competition of satirical cartoons Spirito di Vino, organized every year by Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia, reaches the prestigious aim of the 15th edition. Unfortunately, instead of celebrating this important result on the backdrop of the food and wine festival Friuli Doc, as usual, the organizers had to take the unhappy decision to postponed both the awards and the contextual exhibition of the selected works.

'With regret', as the president of the association Elda Felluga explains 'we have been forced to postpone the celebrations and the winners declaration and we are very sorry. We are not able to prepare the yearly exhibition during Friuli Doc inside of Palazzo Florio, due to the lack of adequate funds. The competition has always been characterized by the satirical view of wine and its world, and this is the reason why its natural conclusion takes place every year during the big meeting Friuli Doc in Udine. Sadly it doesn't happen this year, but we are hardly working to find a solution to celebrate the winners and organize the exhibition for all those people who follow this international event every year.'

Spirito di Vino is an original and charming competition that involves all the countries: wine is a cultural element that has the power to inspire a lot of interesting creations. That's why this is an international event, in order to allow the exchange of opinions and ideas from people from all over the world. It is a moment when stories and cultures, reality and historical events can have an humoristic point of view.
This 15th competition is organised every year by Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia, as we said, together with Ottagono and Spirito diVino magazine, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Cassa di Risparmio del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Also this year there has been a huge and worldwide participation: more than 500 cartoons have been sent from artists who come from Italy and from the rest of the world, from India to Kenya, from Mexico to Canada, from Peru to Lithuania.
The satirical cartoons will be assessed by a jury chaired by Alfio Krancic – president of the competition - and Giorgio Forattini – honorary president of the competition - and composed of eminent figures from the field of journalism, satire and graphics such as: Emilio Giannelli (cartoonist), Valerio Marini (cartoonist), Gianluigi Colin (Corriere della Sera art director), Franz Botré and Enzo Rizzo (director and deputy director of the magazine Spirito DiVino), Carlo Cambi (journalist), Paolo Marchi (journalist of Il Giornale), Aldo Colonetti (director of the magazine Ottagono), Fede & Tinto (Decanter RadioRai radio programme), Francesco Salvi (actor) and Elda Felluga (president of Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia).
The winners will be awarded with a selection of wines produced by Movimento Turismo del Vino Fvg partner wineries.
