Puglia at International Wine Tourism Conference in Reims. Wednesday to Friday April 8-10 MTV Puglia in Champagne region

08/04/2015 Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia lands in the Champagne region to export their regional treasures

From April 8 to 10, representatives from the wine tourism sector worldwide meet in Reims, France for the VII edition of Wine Tourism Conference and Workshop, the leading global conference on tourism and wine.

Created by the specialized agency from Barcelona, Wine Pleasure, the event is being held in France for the first time in one of the most important tourist destinations on a global level linked to wine after the most recent editions in Italy, Croatia and Georgia. This extraordinary setting in the Champagne region will welcome preeminent buyers to the high calibre offerings.

Big numbers are in store for this seventh edition. The schedule features three days of tastings, press tours, case histories from all over the world, workshops for the more than 250 professionals in wine and tourism including tour operators, agencies, journalists, bloggers and participants from the thirty countries that will discuss the continually evolving phenomenon, that of choosing holidays based on wine preferences, which every year moves three million wine lovers in Italy alone generating an estimated 4 to 5 million euros of business.

Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, in collaboration with the Puglia Region and the Department of Rural Development, could not miss out on this event and will play a leading role with a series of activities aimed at valorizing its winemaking territories to improve wine tourism with the goal of making itself known as an exceptional destination to taste and relax in the midst of rural life.

“Our Consorzio, in partnership with regional agencies,” says Sebastiano de Corato, President of Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, “will take part for the second time, after the 2012 edition in Umbria, at the International Wine Tourism Conference & Workshop. Strong from the position achieved by our region on national and international markets as a trending tourist destination, Puglia will show strong after the award received in 2013 by the American magazine Wine Enthusiast as Top Wine Tourism Destination. At the event in Reims, the Consorzio will take part with the goal of intercepting specialized operators who are increasingly interested in proposing wine-tourism and rural Puglia to the final consumer.”

The high level of quality in hospitality at wineries in Puglia will be featured through two strategic activities: an information point open for the duration of the event that will promote the region’s itineraries and food-wine tours by bike, by car or on foot all on the quest to discover the top historical and cultural, scenic and agricultural attractions in Puglia in addition to tastings of the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia member labels. Without a doubt, the leaders at the stand will be the main local varieties such as Nero di Troia, Primitivo and Negroamaro.

Finally, the workshop day on April 10 will be an important event that will see the offerings meet international requests. On this occasion, the crew from Puglia will meet specialized buyers from the most influential foreign markets. Representing the heel of the boot will be tour operator Apulia2Meet, partner of Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, to present a series of customized or group proposals created in collaboration with the Consorzio.
