Movimento Turismo del Vino: Carlo Giovanni Pietrasanta, MTV President of Lombardy, is the new national President

24/06/2015 Voted in today at the national assembly of members in Rome at the Ministry of Agriculture

Carlo Giovanni Pietrasanta is the new President of Movimento Turismo del Vino, the association that features about 1,000 wineries among the most prestigious of Italy and that was lead by Daniela Mastroberardino for the last three years. It was decided today at the national assembly of members in Rome who met at the Department of Agriculture offices. Working alongside Pietrasanta, who already is the President of Movimento Turismo del Vino Lombardy, will be the new Vice-President Serenella Moroder, President of MTV Marche and councilors Stefano Celi (Valle d’Aosta), Nicola D’Auria (Abruzzo), Sebastiano de Corato, (Puglia), Giorgio Salvan (Veneto) and Elio Savoca (Sicily).

“During my three-year term as president,” says Daniela Mastroberardino, “Italian wine tourism has confirmed its charm and its potential. The prospects, in agriculture and in tourism, are enormous but it is precisely because of this double factor that the sector is affected by a lack of guidance. More attention would be necessary on the part of institutions, starting with the Ministry of Agriculture. At the same time, it would be necessary to flank the unitary promotion of the Italian wine tourism brand with quali-quantitative monitoring of the phenomenon and greater specialization in the training which has progressed on the basis of personal initiative until now.”

For new President Pietrasanta, “I know that the job that awaits me is a big one. I thank Daniela Mastroberardino for having brought Movimento Turismo del Vino to this level of maturity and for having reinforced our cohesion.”

Born in 1962, owner of the Pietrasanta winery on the hills of Milan in San Colombano, Carlo Giovanni Pietrasanta is among the founding members of MTV Italy. He was President of Movimento Turismo del Vino Lombardo, the first regional association started in April 1997 since its start. In 2013, he became councilor of MTV Italy once again. Having always been a promoter of wine tourism, he started the format of the national event “Benvenuto Vendemmia”, Welcome Harvest, (today’s Open Cellars at Harvest Time) and the “Giro Cantine” on a regional level in 2001.
