“Calici di Stelle” in Tuscany: the wines of the Grand Duchy are raised in toast under the stars in the year of Expo with Movimento Turismo del Vino and Città del Vino

10/08/2015 Tastings and music in Movimento Turismo Vino Tuscany wineries and in Milan on the night of the shooting stars to the rhythm of #suonodabere

Winemaking Tuscany makes a toast under the starry skies of Expo 2015. To celebrate “Calici di Stelle”, Goblets of Stars, (August 10), Movimento Turismo del Vino Tuscany wineries are doubling events that can’t be missed on the night of the shooting stars even in Milan to light up the Tuscan version of #suonodabere: theme and soundtrack for Calici di Stelle 2015. Wine, tastings, exhibitions, mimes and street artists provide the backdrop for “Calici di Stelle”. On the night of San Lorenzo, Tuscany will be the main star of Expo along with Liguria and Valle d’Aosta. The event will take place in the Symposium room on the terrace of the “Vino – A Taste of Italy” Pavilion from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. featuring open tastings lead by professional sommeliers.

“In the year of Expo, winemaking Tuscany will be the real star on the night of the shooting stars,” explains Violante Gardini, President of Movimento Turismo Vino Tuscany, “an extraordinary opportunity for our wines that, thanks to Vinitaly International, will make an evening tour of Expo even more special. Our wineries will not only be in Milan, but also in Tuscany. In fact, it will be possible to make a toast and make a wish between the rows of vines under the starry skies on the night of San Lorenzo. MTV Tuscany, as always, has considered everyone by organizing special events for wine tourists from August 3 to 10 at their wineries and for visitors to the World’s Fair in Milan.”

At Expo, the participating Movimento Turismo Vino Tuscany wineries are: Donatella Cinelli Colombini, San Fabiano Calcinaia, Agricola Tamburini, Melini, Contucci, Capezzana, Artimino, Varramista, Borgo Santinovo, Carpineto, Tenuta L’Impostino, Bacco a Petroio, Camperchi, Marini Giuseppe and Poliziano. These wineries and their wines from Chianto Classico to Brunello di Montalcino, from Nobile di Montepulciano al Chianti, from Rosso Toscano to Montecucco, from Vinsanto to Trebbiano including Carmignano and Chardonnay IGT Toscano, will give shape to the “Italianness” in the year of Expo 2015. For Calici di Stelle at Expo 2015, these “Made-in-Tuscany” wines will be paired with Italian songs that have topped the charts all over the world such as “Con te partirò” (Andrea Bocelli) and “Volare” (Domenico Modugno) but also other songs and operas that feature wine such as “Viva il Vino” (Cavalleria Rusticana, Pietro Mascagni) and “Il Vino” (Piero Ciampi) to name a few.

If this is the event in Milan that can’t be missed organized by Movimento Turismo del Vino Tuscany to celebrate Calici di Stelle at Expo, there is also a wide range of possibilities in the Tuscan countryside. Starting from August 3 until August 10, unique experiences are being organized at sixteen wineries to celebrate the Expo theme: from tours to tastings, from dinners in cellars and in the vineyards to lessons about the stars in the sky. Among the names that are celebrating Goblets of Stars in the Cellars, there will be: Agricola Tamburini, Tenuta L’impostino, Borgo Santinovo, Bindella, Bacco a Petroio, Camperchi, Il Fossato, Marini, Fattoria di Fubbiano, Usiglian del Vescovo, Enoteca emporio mediterraneo, Rocca di Frassinello, Rocca delle Macie, Castellare di Castellina, Poggio al Tufo, Artimino.
