Chinese delegation “takes lessons” from Movimento Turismo Vino

28/06/2013 Officials arrive from Yanqing County, near Beijing, host of the 2014 International Conference on Grapevine Breeding and Genetics

China “takes lessons on” wine tourism in Italy. A delegation of Chinese officials are on their way from the city of Yanqing and, tomorrow in Montalcino, will meet the top brass of Movimento Turismo del Vino, the association which started in 1993 which has created a new approach to tourism in our Country in the most important wine territories.

The Italian way of welcoming guests in the cellar is a reference point on an international level, even for China, which has already jumped into winemaking and making their own area more ideal for wine tourism. In search of excellence as a model, the Chinese delegation, which includes the deputy mayor of Yanqing, government officials and managers in foreign trade, will be met by Daniela Mastroberardino, President of Movimento Turismo del Vino, who will highlight the history and activities of MTV.

“Being chosen as an example is an honour for us. We are aware that we have created and improved the culture of hospitality in the cellar,” affirms Mastroberardino, “endorsing the wonderful territories of our Country, favouring the development of tourism and respecting the environment.”

Right in Yanqing (50km from Beijing), a well-known territory in China for wine production, the 11th edition of the International Conference on Grapevine Breeding and Genetics will be held for the first time in 2014 (July 28-August 2) organized by ISHS, the International Society for Horticulture Science. China was chosen among Australia, Croatia and numerous other countries. At the International Conference, cultivators and researchers from all over the world will present the latest research to collaborate and discuss the tough questions that the research community and industry face and to develop creative solutions.
