All is set for the 22nd edition of Cantine Aperte by Movimento Turismo del Vino

25/05/2014 From art to solidarity, web 2.0 to music and the environment, seminars for little ones, vintage car rallies and, most importantly, tastings with the producers. On Sunday, May 25 the curtain rises on the 22nd edition of Cantine Aperte by Movimento Turismo del Vino which invites young people, families, and children to spend a day in MTV member wineries all over Italy, which are ready to host the event with a rich program of events

On the day of Cantine Aperte, the winners of the #suonadabere contest will be announced awarding the best three pairings in a tweet about wine, territory and song (contest open until May 22 and rules available on

Wine and song make great music together at tastings featuring opera in Friuli Venezia Giulia (Villa Russiz, Capriva del Friuli-GO), jazz in Veneto (F.lli Corvezzo, Cessalto – TV) and a mix of classical-pop-rock-ethnic to the sounds of the AeD TRIO in Umbria (Antonelli San Marco, Montefalco – PG). In Campania songs from the Fabrizio De Andrè cookbook are paired with wines (Terredora, Montefusco – AV) while there is a jazz concert featuring the sax, trumpets and percussion instruments (Fattoria La Rivolta, Torrecuso – BN).

There are also many artistic initiatives: in Lazio wine meets the works of contemporary artist Mario De Luca together with the Associazione Italiana per la Cultura at the La Luna del Casale Lanuvio winery (RM), while painter Chiara Pala De Murtas will exhibit thirty of her “finger art” works between the rows vines (Cantina del Tufaio a Zagarolo – RM). “The sports painter” Teresio Ferrari is in Novi Ligure in Piemonte (Tenuta La Marchesa) with “The Champions of Cycling” paintings dedicated to legendary athletes on two wheels. Wine turns into colour with the “vinarelli” by Maurizia Gentili in Veneto (Cà Rovere, Alonte – VI). The exhibition space is all in wood and natural materials at the Pala winery in Sardegna (Serdiana – CA), where you can admire works of art by the Associazione Casa Falconieri, accompanied by poetry readings. For a unique display of artistic expression a stop at Villa Forano (Appignano – MC) in the Marche will do to see an exhibit in underground grottos.

This year Cantine Aperte once again supports charities; for example Unicef in Friuli Venezia Giulia, AIL in Abruzzo and Trentino Alto Adige in addition to the Comitato per la vita Daniele Chianelli in Umbria. Puglia and Molise support the work of female inmates with the “Made in Carcere” bracelets featuring the Cantine Aperte logo made with recycled materials.

Children and families can enjoy games and laboratories in Lombardy with Cantine Aperte Junior, “chocomoments” in Trentino Alto Adige (Mezzacorona and Rotari wineires in Mezzocorona – TN), the Inominforma project in the Marche region (Garofoli, Villamusone di Castelfidardo – AN) and AB…Cantine Aperte teaching farms in Umbria.

For nature lovers, in addition to outdoor picnics in Puglia (Rivera, Andria – BT and Vetrère, Montemesola – TA), there is time for Nordic Walking in Lombardy (La Guarda, Castrezzone di Muscoline – BS), for walks in the vineyards with four-legged friends in Tuscany and for wine safaris in the vineyards of Umbria (Lungarotti – Torgiano PG).

Even four wheels will lead the way on the last Sunday in May with the 10th edition of Classic Wine & Spirit, the vintage car rally that makes pits stops at some wineries in Trentino Alto Aldige. Emilia Romagna dedicates the 22nd edition of Cantine Aperte to Luigi Veronelli on the tenth anniversary of his passing, officially giving life to a series of activities that will promote wine culture across the region (in collaboration with Comitato Decennale Luigi Veronelli) over the course of the year.

To visit various wineries and get stamps in your Wine Lover Passport, you can choose the enobus in Trentino Alto Adige or the wine bus in Puglia as well as carpooling and the cycling itineraries (Dammisole, Montero and Guado San Leo) among the vineyards on mountain bikes on the last Sunday of May. While visiting wineries, wine connoisseurs can also be guided by the MTV Umbria App in the green heart of Italy. And for those who choose to spend the entire weekend with the producers on Saturday, May 24 in Umbria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Marche and Piedmont there will be “At Table with the Winemaker”, featuring local traditional fare paired with wines. In Cupramontana (AN) at Colonnara, raise your glasses with hosts Fede & Tinto from Decanter (May 24 at 5pm) while in S. Colombano al Lambro (MI) you can sit “At Table with the Winemaker” right on May 25 with the pairing of wines from Pietrasanta and those of MTV Lazio and Liguria.

The program with the official list of participating wineries of the 22nd edition of Cantine Aperte is available on On the MTV website and its social networks, the winners’ names of the #suonadabere contest will be announced, selected by a jury comprised of Daniela Mastroberardino (Movimento Turismo del Vino President), Stevie Kim (Vinitaly Managing Director), and Paolo Scarpellini (sound designer).
