Cantine Aperte for San Martino in #FriuliVeneziaGiulia: saturday and sunday, november 15 and 16 Cantine Aperte turns to autumn

15/11/2014 Guided tastings by producers, food wine pairings, artisan workshops, lunches and dinners with winemakers will all be the stars of the big Cantine Aperte event for San Martino set for Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16 by Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia with the sponsorship of Cassa di Risparmio del FVG

Feel the beauty and magic of Cantine Aperte once again for the so-called “last summer” of the year before the first winter cold arrives, reliving the unique experience of speaking with enthusiastic producers for an inside look into the latest harvest.

The return of Cantine Aperte in the fall comes when we “pop open the barrel and taste the wine” as the old saying goes. It is the perfect chance to get into fall spirit at wineries by delighting in the tastes of the season and taking the opportunity to taste new wines as well as more structured and complex meditation wines among the others. In addition to the food and wine experiences, many wineries will offer artistic workshops and seminars including one with wool felt artist, Elena Puntin, at the Alessio Komjanc winery, hour-long mini courses on wine at the Magredi winery, tours of the oil mill to learn about oil pressing (Parovel Vigneti e Oliveti), tours of private military museums (Ferrin Paolo winery) or a XI century abbey at the oldest winery in Friuli Venezia Giulia dating back to the XIII century (Livio Felluga) and much more during the two days of rich and captivating events.

Opening the Cantine Aperte for San Martino in style on Saturday, November 15 will be the “Dinner with the Winemaker” event featuring tasting menus created especially for the occasion by the producers and served at a special price in cellars, agriturismo, and restaurants (some wineries may offer lunch on Sunday in addition to/instead of dinner). Instead on the main day, Sunday, November 16, wine lovers and tourists may visit participating wineries from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (free or by advance booking).

“At Table with the Winemaker” menus, events put on by the wineries and other information to fully experience Cantine Aperte for San Martino available now on www.mtvfriulivg.it and on the Movimento Tursimo del Friuli FVG blog www.mtvfriulivg.it/blog/.
