Wine Tourism: "Sorsi di Sicilia: un tour di emozioni" (“Tastes of Sicily”) guide by MTV Sicily. A journey to get to know the winemaking areas at each stop and their producers

24/02/2015 Movimento Turismo del Vino makes a stop at Menfi with "Sorsi di Sicilia: un tour di emozioni" (“Tastes of Sicily: A Tour of Emotions”) the practical handbook for trips that unite what is beautiful with what is good, pleasure with the pleasure of hospitality, art and history with the background of Sicilian wineries

The guide, which is promoted by Movimento Turismo del Vino Sicily and the first in Italy to be translated into English, “narrates” the historical, cultural and artistic landscape of the island through the productive entities of member wineries of the Movimento.

Alessio Planeta, of the winery of the same name; Elio Savoca, President Movimento Turismo del Vino Sicily; Gori Sparacino, President Federazione Strade del Vino and Sapori di Sicilia all participated in the initiative.

“Travellers reward Sicily, as one of the top five European destinations for wine tourism,” writes Magda Antonioli Corigliano, Director of Masters Program in the Economy of Tourism at Bocconi University, “and this data is in itself indicative of the role of great importance of the winemaking production for the development of tourism in the region.”

In support of some significant data: the “Open Cellars” event, promoted by Movimento Turismo del Vino Italia recorded a boom in attendance recorded at the 2014 edition with other 20,000 visitors in participating Sicilian wineries. “Producers yes, but above all interpreters of the territories’ uniqueness, capable,” says Elio Savoca, President MTV Sicily, “of giving the emotions of a wine and of a place in the cellar where the tourist plays the lead in an unrepeatable experience.”

“Tastes of Sicily: A Tour of Emotions” is a journey to get to know the winemaking areas at each stop and their producers that are in line with the goals of the Movimento.

The itineraries are organized as follows: “Tastes of the Journey” (Sapori di viaggio) including the provinces of Palermo and Trapani, a long trip from Pantelleria to Castelbuono; “Pearls of Etna and the Aeolian Islands” (Perle dell’Etna e Isole Eolie) which includes the provinces of Catania and Messina; “Fragrances of the Gattopardo” (Profumi del Gattopardo) encompassing Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Enna; and “All Good Things Baroque” (Bontà Barrocche) about the provinces of Ragusa and Siracusa.
