The wine producers of Puglia are leaving for Prowein, the most important wine fair in Germany to be held in Dusseldorf on March 27 to 29.

Puglia, with the support of Puglia Region and Unioncamere Puglia, will be at what is considered the appointment with one of the most attractive market in the wine sector and will be present with 25 exhibiting companies.

'Puglia - says the Regional Councillor for Food Resources Dario Stefàno - play a leading role in Prowein 2011, one of the largest European event for the promotion of our wine heritage. In Dusseldorf our region presents an extraordinary result achieved in 2010, the most important export growth with a 22.1% which contributed to the growth of 8% of the whole country. The aim, therefore, is to increase the presence on the European market, further strengthens the positive trend of Puglian wine. We have a strategic competitive advantage, the extraordinary diversity of our region, which is a strategic asset that we can spend on international markets. Consumption tell us about a growing demand for those products that are tied to their territories, to the history and passion of its people. No coincidence that among the most sold wines abroad, where a new target of more demanding consumers is emerging, there is for example the Negroamaro, expression of a small area of Puglia, which, together with other aspects, makes the cultural, natural and productive richness of our region. along with Negroamaro, 22 other grape varieties, including Primitivo, Malvasia or Bombino, which alone or in blends are enclosed in the most prestigious wines that carry around the world the brand 'Puglia '

Also this year Prowein will offer a double showcase to the wines of Puglia, in Hall 3 and Hall 4. The first, in the large area of ICE, provides the establishment of a space reserved for each company, to ensure high visibility and at the same time, the clear and immediate identification with the territory.

Among the events planned there is 'One day in Puglia' on Monday 28 March, with the presentation of the wine peculiarities of the region by the journalist and writer Jens Priewe followed by a tasting of wines from the participating wineries.

The day will ends with the presentation of the book 'Wine - 30Weinwelten Italiens' by Steffen Maus. The book, in English and German, describing the state of Italian wine in 2010, includes 20 pages dedicated to Puglia, with a detailed description of the three major vine varieties of Puglia (Negroamaro, Primitivo and Nero di Troia) and the most representative Wineries of the region.

Nearby, in Hall 4, thanks to an agreement between the regional institutions and the Vinum Weinmagazin Europas, the wines from Puglia will be in the stand of 'Vinum', the famous magazine distributed in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Here, the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia organize tastings and meetings aimed at the promotion of Puglian wines on the markets of central and northern Europe.

A presence of great prestige, since this space is usually frequented by journalists and international buyers, who, among the best wines from all over the world, will also find those of Puglia. Every day, in fact, journalists and buyers will have a wide choice of labels 'Made in Puglia', with the opportunity to learn, taste and compare them.

Moreover, after the great success of last year, the journalist Christian Eder, editor of the magazine Vinum for Italy, will lead three wine tasting with a focus on Puglia's wine regions and the following themes: The great Red of Puglia; Three areas, three varieties : Nero di Troia, Negroamaro, Primitivo; Puglia vinified in white.

Immediately after the Prowein, Puglia will be ready to reach with its wines another important international wine fair: Vinitaly, scheduled in Verona from April 7 to 11.
