31/03/2011 In Puglia wine meets tourism. the departments of agriculture and tourism for the first time together at the prestigious verona fair.

It is the second Italian region for planted area, with more than 93.0000 hectares (13.62% of the total national vineyards).

And it is the third for quantity produced of wines and musts, with 6,510 hectoliters (14.41% of the national total).
In fact, Puglia remains, for a lot of people, one of the most popular destinations for Italian and foreign tourists with its beautiful beaches, crystalline sea, the artistic beauty of its cities, the alluring charm of its plains.

'Therefore it was logical - explains Vittoria Cisonno, President of the Movimento Turismo del Vino of Puglia region - that this strong bond between wine and tourism has been stressed. In previous years we have made it in a natural way, in this 45th edition of Vinitaly, with the presence in Hall 10 of the Mediterranean Culture and Tourism Department, this mix becomes official and reminds everyone that wine and tourism are two of the most important business cards of our region'.

For visitors who come to the Verona fair from 7 to 11 April, that in Hall 10, will be a real trip in the wine regions of Puglia, from Daunia to Murge, from Valle d'Itria to Messapia through Salento, where the guests can not only meet more than 135 companies and taste over 1,500 labels, but also have more information on the region's tourist offers through the promotional material.

The Hall Puglia also confirmed the key points that have proved to be so successful in past editions. Thanks to the many events organized by the Italian Sommelier Association Puglia, Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia, National Organization of Wine Tasters Puglia and Slow Food Puglia, the Regional area promises once again to be among the most active of the entire event. With fun activities like 'A nose tasting', a sort of olfactory treasure hunt to identify the main indigenous vines, or as 'Wine and socialnetwork', a fun way to dream that they are already on vacation in Puglia.

A crucial role will be played as usual by the restaurant that, in recent years, has become a destination for the gourmets present in the fair.
Two moments created by Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia are very much awaited by the producers. The first, 'Taste & Buy' is a moment of business by workshops dealing with b2b meetings between producers and international buyers. The second, which has become a classic, is 'Taste, Blog & Press, ' a very interesting meeting between the Puglian producers and the most important names in journalism, that in 2011 will be joined by the bloggers.
