13/01/2014 Stars of New York in February for the American edition of Winestaly International 2014.

After last November's success in Asia, the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia Consortium starts 2014 with a new challenge. On 3rd February seven wineries will present their wines to the US market at the 2014 edition of 'Winestaly International' - Winestaly and VeronaFiere's project to promote the excellence of Italian wines on the principal international markets.

On center stage in the New York's Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street) will be the following wineries from Puglia: Carvinea of Carovigno (Br), Castel di Salve of Depressa di Tricase (Le), Duca Carlo Guarini of Scorrano (Le), Tenute Eméra of Pulsano (Ta), Duca Carlo Guarini of Scorrano (Le), Mottura of Tuglie (Le), Rivera of Andria, and Vigne&Wines of Leporano (Ta), ready to wager on what is the principal export market for Italian wines, registering an increase of 10% in 2013 (source: Il Sole 24 Ore).

'This partnership with Winestaly International – says Sebastiano de Corato, President of the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia Consortium – follows the 'Wines di Puglia IV' promotion plan, an OCM project to promote our member wineries outside Europe. The first date on the 2014 calendar takes us to the United States, the biggest export market for our wineries. We are sure that the Winestaly International activities will give our wines publicity on this day, and that we will attract the attention of international opinion leaders, with positive effects on the entire sector in Puglia'.

Information and training activities will take place throughout the day, with round-tables, seminars and wine-tasting combining to create a special occasion for meetings and discussions between Italian producers and the local wine and food operators. There are also two new features for Winestaly International 2014.

This event in the 'Big Apple' will see the inauguration of the 'Winestaly International Academy'. Directed by Ian D'Agata, it has been launched to explain, provide information and spread awareness of the features of Italian wines - at all levels from the novice to the expert, according to the reference market. This is the reason behind an innovative series of masterclasses to combine targeted wine-tasting with specific lessons on Italy's principal vines.

This rich calendar of events just had to include the 'heel of Italy', and so at 3 pm there will be a 'MasterClass' on the Wines of Puglia. This is an important event for promoting Puglia's wineries and will involve a selected audience, including wine and food journalists, traders (from both Horeca and GDO channels) and opinion leaders. The master class will be led by Daniele Cirsone – with his expert knowledge of Puglia and its wines – and will start with a mini-seminar about Puglia's wine sector, focusing on the region and its principal vines, followed by guided wine-tasting involving the seven labels (one from each of the participating wineries) which are strategic for the American market.

Another novelty to be presented in New York is the 'Winestaly International Importer Connect', an important 'digital' feature to help producers who are not represented to find the most suitable wine importer, also via Internet. In collaboration with the Beverage Trade Network website, Winestaly International is to launch a 'virtual space' to make it easier for wine demand and offer to meet up at the global level. This means that the Puglian wineries involved in OCM 'Wines of Puglia IV' will be at the centre of attention, with a dedicated winery showcase on the website.
