Puglia Wine & Land 2014 - V Edition

09/03/2014 From 16th to 20th March in Savelletri di Fasano

The fifth edition of 'Puglia Wine and Land' is taking place from 16th to 20th March at Savelletri di Fasano (Br). This important international event brings to Puglia a prestigious group of international buyers from China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden and the United States, so that they can explore the region's wine-growing areas and create important business contacts with the wineries.
At the previous editions many business contracts were made following the contacts created during the workshop days, and this success enables Puglia once again to concentrate international attention on its wines and regional specialities.

'This event is now in its fifth edition', says Sebastiano de Corato, President of the Consortium 'and we intend to consolidate the reputation of Puglia's wines across the five continents, giving increased visibility to our region's wine-growing areas and creating business opportunities for the wineries belonging to our Consortium. Our wines are real ambassadors for the 'made in Puglia' brand on the international markets, where they are greatly appreciated for their character and for giving excellent value for money. We are particularly proud of this event' continues de Corato, 'because it brings to our region the key players for promoting Puglia's wines and taking them all over the world, and also a selected group of journalists. In this way the 'wine product' can be seen against the background of its original context, consisting not only of the producers' professional skills but also including our region's culture, traditions and history.'

Wine & Land means promoting not only commerce, but also the region. Guests of the City of Fasano, ten international journalists will take part in an educational tour to meet producers, visit the wineries, taste the local products and discover the region's potential, its features and some novelties. They will get closer to the beauty, the scents and the flavours of some the region's most typical places. The following journalists are taking part: Charlotte Van Zummeren (Netherlands); Philippe Kampe (USA); Marta Wrze?niewska (Poland); Dwight Casimere (USA); Petri Pellinen (Finland); Michael Ritter (Germany); Timé Diericx (Belgium); Maria Pranzo (Hong Kong); Rod Phillips (Canada); Michael Liebert (Germany). Every detail of the full programme has been carefully organized in order to meet the expectations of all the guests. The event is hosted by two top-class venues: Masseria Torre Coccaro and Masseria Torre Maizza.

The introductory meeting will present the region and then the participants will have different activities in the following days. For the buyers, a short educational tour to give them a first contact with the landscapes and the region's wineries, and then the next few days will be dedicated to the B2B workshop with representatives from the wineries. At the same time, the ten journalists will take an exclusive press tour of wineries, old towns and rural landscapes. During the tour they will be able to discover Puglia's most important wine-growing areas and evaluate the wineries' high standards of hospitality: from Daunia to the Salento, via Messapia.

The two groups will meet on the evening of the 18th, when the journalists will be invited to the workshop 'Puglia Wine and Land' workshop at Masseria Torre Coccaro. This will be a unique occasion for presenting journalists and producers, for tasting their wines and meeting the local authorities and press.
