Vinitaly 2014

04/04/2014 For the fourteenth time, the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia is going to Vinitaly, the important international fair in Verona.

For the fourteenth time, the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia is going to Vinitaly, the important international fair in Verona. This year's edition runs from 6th to 9th April - promoting the best of Italian and International wines in the splendid setting of this historical city.

This year the Consortium will once again be involved with Regione Puglia's Agro-Food Resources Office and Unioncamere Puglia in organising events aimed at promotion, information and awareness of Puglia's wines in the official Regione Puglia area inside Hall 11.

Over forty wineries belonging to the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia will be present at the fair to represent the region's excellent wines and take part in the many events organised to increase awareness about Puglia's wines, giving them more visibility on the foreign markets and with consumers.

A total of sixty buyers will be taking part in the various b2b events set up to create business contacts between the region's wine producers and importers from all over the world.

Puglia's producers are looking forward to 'Taste & Buy', a calendar of one-to-one meetings now in its sixth consecutive year, taking place on Tuesday 8th April from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm in the conference room. This workshop will offer an important opportunity for 25 producers to meet 15 buyers from Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, the Netherlands, Russia, Vietnam, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, all with particularly interesting market potential for Puglia's wineries.

The business events continue with 'Buyer Connect', exclusively for buyers from the United Kingdom, on Monday 7th April from 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm. This meeting is promoted by Vinitaly International and organised in partnership with the MTV Puglia. It involves 35 regional wineries in wine-tasting and a wine competition, which will end with the ten best wines and an overall winner - creating an important opportunity to make Puglia's wines more visible to the buyers operating in this important market.

In addition there will be events to acquaint the international food and wine press with Puglia's excellent wines: the successful 'Taste & Press', on Sunday 6th and Tuesday 8th in the morning and afternoon will allow the participating producers to present their wineries to the press, along with their wines and the year's novelties – an excellent way to consolidate 'brand Puglia', giving it more visibility and demonstrating the excellent quality levels the region's wines have achieved.

The journalists and bloggers invited to the event are the most authoritative in their field: Enzo Vizzari (L'Espresso); Andrea Gabbrielli (TreBicchieri Gambero Rosso); Raffaele D'Angelo (Informacibo); Fabiano Guatteri (Elle); Luciano Pignataro (Il Mattino); Andrea Cuomo (Il Giornale); Lorenzo Ruggeri (Gambero Rosso International); Laura Di Cosimo (Spirito Divino); Piera Genta (l'Italia a Tavola); Bruno Petronilli (Monsieur - Passione Gourmet); Daniela Scrobogna (Bibenda); Daniele Cernilli (Doctor Wine); Maddalena Baldini (Vie del Gusto); Stefano Tesi (www.altafedelta.it); Fabio Turchetti (Il Messaggero); Giovanni Pellicci (I Grandi Vini); Alberto Schieppati (Artù); Alessandro Torcoli (Civiltà del Bere); Alma Torretta (Wining.it)

Monday 7th April will see the award ceremony for the 'Terre del Primitivo' Journalism Prize, presented by Antonio Stornaiolo: during a wine show in the Enoteca the awards will be given to Bruno Gambacorta (Rai Tg2 Eat Parade) and Licia Granello (La Repubblica), winners in the categories 'tv-radio' and 'press and web', respectively. The Jury will give Davide Biasco (Golf & Gusto) and Lorenzo Ruggeri (Gambero Rosso)a special award for excellent and original work to valorise the Primitivo territory. The members of the Jury will be present at the ceremony: Fabrizio Nardoni, Regione Puglia's Agro-Food Resources Officer; Pasquale Porcelli, wine and food critic and president of the jury; Sebastiano de Corato, president of MTV Puglia; Ernesto Soloperto, president of the GAL 'Terre del Primitivo'. President of Regione Puglia Nichi Vendola will present the awards.

The info desk will be open every day to give wine lovers all the info they need about the wine tourism activities and events organised in Puglia during the year. At the desk, visitors will be able to enjoy 'Vino & Social Network', linked to Facebook: they will be able to have a photo taken at Puglia's symbolic monument - 'Castel del Monte' – and upload it as their profile photo on Facebook. All visitors taking part will receive guides and promotional materials for planning a trip to the Heel of Italy.

Wine & Land, continues in Verona with an event outside the fair at Verona's Hotel Expo (Villafranca di Verona) - the wines from the Consortium's members will welcome thirty buyers from all over the world on the day they arrive in Verona for Vinitaly.
