PUGLIA @ EXPO MILANO 2015

23/05/2015 In the 'VINO - A Taste of ITALY' Pavilion, territories, wine tourism itineraries and Puglia

Puglia's wine is on the starting line with Vinitaly International for the inauguration of the 'VINO-A Taste of ITALY' Pavilion, the great exhibition hall for Italian wines, which Minister Martina will declare officially open on Saturday 23 May by Minister Martina.

In Puglia's area of the Pavilion, 57 wineries will display one or more labels for the entire six-month duration of the Expo, for a total of over 100 reds, whites and rosés, alternating to show off the best of the region's wines.

This gives great visibility to the entire sector, thanks to the support of Regione Puglia's Rural Development Office in bringing the region's wines into the first wine pavilion ever in the entire history of the Universal Exposition.

Visitors to this ultramodern pavilion will be able to enjoy a 360° sensory experience at the 'Biblioteca del Vino – Wine Library', a permanent display of wines from the different Italian regions. In Puglia's large hall, visitors serve themselves to the region's best wines at modern wine dispensers. They write their impressions on the tasting note given at the entrance together with a wine glass, using the 'Wine app' to find out about each wine offered for tasting.

In addition, in the style of this Pavilion designed by architect Italo Rota, who also designed its indoor installations, the exhibition space for Italy's regions will have interactive display so that visitors can take a virtual tour of the country's wine territories.

Here visitors can discover Puglia's landscapes, wine-growing and rural territories, gastronomy and culture on a screen showing photos and images of the region. For visitors wanting to be whisked away on a virtual tour of Puglia's territories, there is a film with a preview of its loveliest places, showing all of its historical, architectural and natural beauty, its fascinating traditions and festivals, its lively colours and its scenery.

Visitors who want to travel south to discover all of this beauty for themselves can plan their ideal journey through the region's territories from Daunia to the Salento on an interactive monitor, by looking at www.vinidipuglia.com to explore wine tourist itineraries among wineries, masserias, nature and old towns, and – of course - wine and food. Visitors can also consult the 'Ampelopuglia' virtual catalogue on the same touch screen to discover the native vines and regional denominations of Puglia's rich wine culture, increasingly renowned and appreciated for variety and quality.

The six master classes by Vinitaly and the Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia offer further opportunities to explore Puglia's wines, with talks about Puglia, its wine-growing territories, native vines, the challenges and prospects for producers and the entire industry. In addition, experts will offer some of the region's best labels for visitors to taste.

There is plenty to interest visitors and give maximum visibility to the region's wines and wine-growers, without forgetting the wealth of tourist facilities for which Puglia is increasingly renowned on the international scene.
