For the 2016 summer: "12 e Mezzo-MALVASIA DEL SALENTO IGP

After three days of careful evaluations of the over 2,700 registered samples, coming from 27 nations, the prestigious judges of the first edition of the 5 Star Wines award - the new international wine award by Vinitaly - gave 90 out of 100 '5 Star Awards' points to the '12 e Mezzo-MALVASIA DEL SALENTO IGP' by Varvaglione.

Starting from this year, the awarding procedure of Vinitaly is much more innovative. In fact, the winning wines are not awarded medals, but scores. The launch of this Award at the 50th edition of this competition is particularly meaningful because both of them mark a new start focused on its much stronger commitment for the internationalization. The judges prestige and the points scored by the companies show the growth of quality in one of the most dynamic fields, also under an economical point of view.

Also, we would like to give some wine advice for this summer and we suggest '12 e Mezzo-Malvasia del Salento IGP', an aromatic white wine with a fruity bouquet, a persistent and fresh flavor and a citrus aftertaste. This Malvasia del Salento is yellow with golden hints and it originates when the Apulian sun meets White Malvasia del Salento grapes. Its lively taste is balanced and its aromas recall summer.

'12 e Mezzo-MALVASIA DEL SALENTO IGP' is a wine that perfectly matches with Italian dishes and, in general, with Mediterranean dishes, as its style is easy to pair with fish and shellfish, as well as with fresh and delicate cheese.
