"Faro" monument on Mount Bernadia: An ancient military road, now paved, leads from Ramandolo to Sedilis and, from here, to Mount Bernadia. The road then continues on the coast of the Monte overlooking the Val Cornappo and descends into the Val Torre passing through Villanova delle Grotte. Almost on the top of the mountain, an ancient fort stands to defend the Friulian plain. The Alpine troops of Tarcento, under the guidance of their group leader Enrico Mattighello, after the Second World War conceived to build a monument up here in memory of the Fallen of the “Julia”. The work designed by Gianni Avon represents two cut-off feathers that rise towards the sky to signify the sacrifice of the Fallen. On the top is the lighthouse that radiates its light. Inside, the altar and the Madonnina della "Julia" (gift of the archpriest of the time Camillo Di Gaspero) and the shrine rests where the bodies of six fallen soldiers. The shrine monument was assigned to the General Commissariat of Honors for the Fallen, dependent on the Ministry of Defense and is included in the list of the Homeland Shrines.
The small church of San Giovanni Battista di Ramandolo: It was consecrated in 1503 and then enriched with furnishings and frescoes. New works were carried out in 1644, as a date in the keystone of the entrance arch reminds us, in which the atrium and sacristy were probably built. From the church you can enjoy a magnificent view of Udine and the Friuli plain. Once you have visited the church, you can relax under the centenary horse chestnuts and enjoy the view over the Friuli plain. Next to the church an easy path starts that will lead you through the vineyards of the Dario Coos winery.
